First of all, this bike is simply beautiful! My size XS, 1,000 Strava km (after I got hit by a car and it broke) I was sad when I could neither get the black nor the white version of it, when it came on the market in October. However, when I saw the bike in the shop for the first time I fell in love instantly. This bike looks so much better in reality than in the pictures only. The paint is very, very, very sensitive. My bike dropped 10cm horizontally on my plastic bike stand and already had a small change of colour at the impact location. The bike came, like most VR bikes with, normal pedals, a bell, reflectors, SRAM brake protectors, tubeless valves, a SRAM charger and a tool to unscrew the wheels. I really was hoping for some VR goodies (special kit or glasses, VR Zwift kit or bike) but there was nothing, besides all the store employees wanted to see the bike, before I took it home. The weight is much lighter compared to my RC520 but on the same level as my 13 year old Cannondale Synapse. The electronic shifting is a huge upgrade to mechanical but RIVAL looks so big and heavy and you have to readjust the gears regularly. Disk brakes are just so much better, safety wise, compared to rim brakes. The chain rings are far too small. I wasn't using the small chainring at all and buying a bigger one would have become my first upgrade. Speaking about shifting I had three chaindrops which got sucked (very deep) into the space between frame and chainring. They totally destroyed the paint of the frame. I had to take out the crankset several times to recover the chain and to protect the carbon. I've never experienced this with another bike before. Speed wise you don't feel a big difference when riding around 32kmh. However the bike wants you to go fast. I was running out of power on my first rides because my average power output was much higher compared to what I was used to. When the speeds are getting higher you will start feeling a difference and I gained around 8 seconds in a one minute decline. For climbing I was getting slower, as the hookless wheels only allow 5 bar max. At least my feeling was I could not get all my power on the pedals when standing and grinding up a hill as I always had this "soft" suspension like feeling . Seated you can go uphill much comfortably and with a higher power output but of course using the same muscles as when riding on the flat. On the flat you feel much comfortable as well even I was only using 28mm gp 5000 tubeless. The freehub is terrible! There is so much space between the inner teeth that you constantly get a very loud "clonk" when shifting or changing the power input. For sure this will affect the life span of the groupset and the freehub itself. This could partially be related to a wrong chain length as well. The geometry is very aggressive. I got some back pain on my first rides, but you get used to it. I loved the bike even it had some problems which really annoyed me. Nico
This bike is simply great value for money, first of all the Michelins in 28 impressive comfort on the road inflated to 4.3 for 65 kg super performance. The wheels are effective on hilly roads the peripherals the handlebars are excellent as is the saddle which is ultimately from the Decathlon brand very comfortable and the Sram group with this development goes everywhere, I just changed the cassette to put a 10-30 . Conclusion but 3 hour outings are much nicer and much more efficient
An extraordinary bike, I, who am not very trained, easily reach speeds of over 30 km/h and I reached the first 10-20% on Strava. I improved my own records by almost 10%, so it is a real racing bike!
Great bike, downside lack of staff training on the product. Search the internet to answer my questions!!!
A very beautiful bike, responsive and pleasant, a success! On the other hand, I am very unpleasantly surprised by the customer experience at the Clermont Ferrand Decathlon. A bike for €4,200 (without accessories or insurance) sold like a pair of running shoes for €40…It’s a real shame. The bike arrives with tape, foam, and clamps which attach a cardboard box to the frame, we do not go around the bike with the saleswoman to check the assembly, we do not offer adjustments (I nevertheless arrived with a postural study), no bottle holder offered either (and it's not for lack of asking), no revision offered in the first months of use. In short, catastrophic, they hand you the bike and “there you go”. The experience is far below the Bourges Decathlon which for my previous Van Rysel had taken the time to exchange and offered bottle cages. It's the same thing with bike dealers who almost systematically offer adjustments or a postural study with the purchase of a bike, give bottles, provide advice, offer servicing at their home, etc.
The bike is stiff, accelerates great and is comfortable. Rival axs works flawlessly. The wheels are stiff and can be felt in crosswinds. The tires are not very resistant to punctures (they were punctured by a small lump of glass, I haven't had a slipper for over 6 years), luckily I changed them to tubeless ones and the hole was closed. Unfortunately, after this incident, the circle broke. As it later turned out, the wheel was sealed with tubeless tape consisting of three parts, and one of them peeled off. I recommend checking this defect in your wheels.
Bike that is both responsive and comfortable. Very good behavior on flat ground and not too difficult to take uphill.
style and performance are there. I was wise to wait before changing bikes. The bike was delivered to me 1 week early. Perfect in-store service.
Great product, great performance, great value for money
Decathlon is once again sponsoring the UCI World Tour team (AG2R) after 17 years and they have made a new RCR frame for them. As usual, the price is unbeatable. Canyon makes a similarly fitted bike for +20k, it makes no sense to compare other brands in terms of price. The question was, is the frame of comparable quality? It is :) I've never sat on such a divine bike, even my archive Colnago C40 will be excused. The transfer of power from the pedals to forward motion is instantaneous. The lightness of carbon wheels and TPU inner tubes (recommended to buy extra) has the effect of someone pushing you up the hill. It whizzes along the flat thanks to aggressive geometry and drag-free aero elements. And the electric shift is a game changer, braking and downshifting at the same time with the same hand is a surprisingly practical feature in traffic. The 28 tire and 6 bar pressure can also handle the local spring tank tracks. As you noticed, overall I'm totally over this bike... it's like switching from an internal combustion car to an electric one. Best thing I ever bought!
Superb bike, beyond my expectations. We are immediately comfortable when getting on the bike, good position of legs, torso and arms. It runs very well, you feel the efficiency of the bike and especially the wheels from 30 km/h, it rolls almost by itself and it's almost relaxing. It restarts very well on steep slopes. On long climbs you feel a bit of the weight of the bike on the rear. The bike gives confidence on descents and curves, you are not afraid to let go of the brakes and lean over. The gearshift group is good, nothing special to say. The position of the covers and the hands on the handlebars is not optimal, after a few hours you feel discomfort. In conclusion, a perfect bike: frame, wheel, groupset, position. A great price. A big thank you Decathlon / Van Rysel.
Bike recovered at Décathlon Alés, good welcome and good explanations Bike tried on a 180km outing. Very good performance, very effective against the wind, despite its weight it climbs very well. Versatile bike with very good transmission, good single position. Small flaw, the side wind. Happy with my purchase so far.
200km done so far. Size M for my 176/85EJ. I referred to the measurement table, the size corresponds perfectly after refining the settings. However, I changed the saddle because the Fizik Antares is not the most pleasant. The bike itself; great performance! Surprisingly not that rigid, which gives it a touch of comfort without neglecting performance, it's rather pleasant. On the aero side, there is no doubt, we are on a bike that makes you want to go for speed. No difficulty pulling it or maintaining speed once launched. Weight level obviously, in this configuration we can't blame it for its very wet 8kg, but frankly the electronic group, power sensor, Zipp303s... the value for money is clear. In short, a top bike both for those who have ambitions (and incidentally the means to take the range above) and those who want to have fun on cyclos, races, or simply nice outings :)
I am reposting a review after 1500 km, really happy with my purchase, very good behavior of the bike, a few small problems at the beginning with the adjustment of the brakes and they often make noise despite a respected break-in. The only big downside because I'm not the only one to say it, but the saddle is really uncomfortable. One regret is that it was not SRAM FORCE in this color.
Very good, stiff bike. The proposed wheels (hookless) are so far reliable, very comfortable, and contrary to my fears - less than 5 bars is enough for fast riding. Very good, although heavy, equipment. Overall, it's hard to find something better for this price (especially with ZIPP wheels and electronics with power measurement). I hope it doesn't disappoint further :)
Additional Product Information
Composition
Frame (for bike): 100.0% Carbon
Rcr pro frameset
Designed to be lighter and offer more road feedback than our standard RCR. This is achieved by using a proprietary carbon layup. This bike is a pure race machine, that can climb as well as excel on the flats. What makes it more even better is the fact that this bike can do it all while still being comfortable to ride... Watch this bike win races all year long under the Decathlon AG2R Mondial team this season and for at least the next 4 more years.
What's the difference between the rcr and the rcr pro?
What makes a carbon frame is its geometry, its shapes and its layup. The layup is how the carbon fibres are assembled. Not all fibres have the same properties. On the frame of the RCR, we only use high-modulus fibres. On the RCR PRO, we've chosen exceptional fibres that make the bike stiffer in the areas that are put under the most stress and that slightly reduce the weight. The RCR PRO is ready to compete at the highest level.
A closer look at the frame
The RCR Pro's frame weighs 790 g (painted) in size M The RCR's fork weighs 380 g (painted) in size MThe frame can take tyres up to 32 mm wide. There may be slight variations in weight depending on the colour (+/- 50 g).
Cockpit
We've specially designed the RCR Pro's cockpit with our partner Deda to improve the aerodynamics by reducing the front surface while ensuring optimal ergonomics at the 3 contact points (levers, top of handlebar and drops). The housing is fully internally routed for a streamlined effect. The Deda X VR combo depends on the frame size:(stem length x handlebar width)XS: 90 x 380S: 90 x 400M: 100 x 400L: 110 x 400XL: 120 x 400
